Under the smoke and debris that continued to fall just below the Legacy's deck, Sam found himself in poor view of the pirate ship captain that was standing just feet in front of his face.
You can block my blade well enough, said the red haired man. But even you should know that I am not one to be dealt with lightly. I can see from your posture you are not such a simple minded man as your words or clothing might make me to believe. Captain Ozzy said. Sam grinned at this observational comment, almost flattered to hear a stranger have the mind to think better of him. But Ill tell you now, even if those finely crafted blades were made specifically for you, they are nothing but chunks of metal in the storm that is about to come the bearded man stopped for a moment. Then again, I must try to finish dealing with you with full haste. The admiral would not be pleased if I continued appeasing my own curiosity while he awaits our return.
I take it this admiral you speak of is the leader of this tiny organization, Sam said, I can assure you though, these chunks of metal as you call them are more than mere tools. They are not fabrications of righteousness that many men claim them to be nowadays. No, these are my creations, my children. I guess you could call em a gift, but not one I received from any other man. These came straight from my soul. I know their every intricacy and tendency. I know their names and their words. Sam laughed for a moment. I dont suppose I sound like Im making a lot of sense to you, huh?
Nonsense, Im faced down with a man stricken ill of the head. Captain Ozzy murmured with a confused look on his face. Never mind this banter, lets end this now! he snapped. The solid crescent shape blade came crashing down from above Sams head. He met it with his own black sword. The strength and weight of the oversized weapon was beginning to drive the deadlock ever closer to Sams steady form.
This childs name is London. Hes usually quiet, but when someone wont let him sleep, hell cry out silencing the roar of any foe. Almost like a good dog he stays by my side and protects me from danger. Sam said. He then threw his other arm, weapon in hand, towards the midsection of Captain Ozzy. The raggedly dressed captain jumped back dodging the blow, but took a moment to investigate his body.
*I could have sworn I felt that cut* Ozzy thought.
This childs name is Apollo. Sam said holding out his katana in the musty dust covered air. A glint ran down its length in the darkened ship corridor. His mind is calm and he speaks with only short phrases. Often he enjoys meeting sharp blades just like himself. But your weapon there isnt really one with anything to talk about.
Enough of this, demanded Ozzy. If you wont speak rationally Ill just destroy this entire ship piece by piece. Ozzy waved his blade around his body before sending it into a nearby pillar, shattering it into pieces. If you wont forfeit your life, youll simply swim to your death! he roared.
*Hes not happy. Poor guy. I know you dont wish to talk with his blade anymore Apollo, so lets just be done with him.* Sam thought. He sheathed his black sword and drew the long katana in both his hands now.
Ah finally ready to attack are you? chuckled the pirate.
I can see that puts you in a better mood, smiled Sam. As he had done many times before, Sam took his stance and waited for his opponent to advance. Ozzy came at him straight on, thrusting his blade forward with both hands stretched out. It only took a moment to pass before he realized, this dual wielding swordsman had fractioned his weapon in two.
A warm sensation came over Ozzy. The katana was deep inside his right shoulder and had cut almost down into his chest. Sam withdrew his blade, but not before the damage would take its physical toll. There was a ringing in the air from the recently retracted blade, but it was soon to be over taken by Captain Ozzys shrieks of pain.
Im sorry, but I have to move on from here. I cant be complacent with death any longer. People need me, Sam solemnly explained to his critically wounded foe. He smiled and turned towards the stairs at the far end of the floor. Oh yeah Apollo, apologizes too.
On the deck of the Legacy, two crewmen struggled for their lasts gasps of air. Nicholas returned to his feet, gave up pulling at the tightening whip around his throat, and charged at Gonzolas. Right before he could reach the tall pirate, the whip which had been held until this point was thrown skyward. In the next second Nicholas felt the tightening of the mass around his neck once again, but where it was being held from was a mystery. A quick look above his head, gave Nicholas the answer he sought. The other end of the whip had wrapped itself to the mast several feet above the struggling men.
Strong as you may be, that whip is lined with a flexible metal wiring. Dont think you can just tear out of it. My guess is youd actually topple the mast there before you even came close to escaping. And now back to you my friend. Gonzolas said turning back to Crazy. The younger man was gnashing his teeth into the loosened whip before it was pulled tight once again. Now, now, cretin, dont go messing up my things with your teeth marks. If you were to chip one of those precious molars before I had a chance to pluck them from your head Id be most displeased.
A strong breeze was picking up and with it came the turning of the Legacys main sails. Nicholas was drug off the ground as the mast changed positions. Crazy watched helplessly as his friend struggled to pull himself up the whips length. The whips length was riddled with metal shavings and with the unprotected insides of his gauntlets Nicholas was shredding his hands with every attempt to climb the rope around his neck.
Crazys mouth opened wide, trying to take into it any amount of oxygen that surrounded the suffocating man. Gonzolas was closing the distance with his soon to be claimed prize. With every step he took forward Gonzolas wrapped the whip around the length of his hand and elbow. There was no other option left for Crazy to take. His fate was now starring him down right in front of him. The dark skinned young man surged with ferocity. His body grew tense with each advance made by his captor. Now just a few feet away from Crazy, Gonzolas froze in his tracks.
What is this? Gonzolas questioned. The form of Crazy that lay before him was a man overtaken by some sort of primal fervor. The hands and feet of the younger man were all planted on the deck digging relentlessly with an odd set of elongated nails. So solid and long had Crazys nails grown, they now looked almost like claws. Not only were his feet and hands beset by these ingrown weapons, but Crazys mouth now bore a frightful new set of teeth as well. Gaped as his mouth was, it was no longer seeking air, it was salivating for something else, something that stood helplessly in front of him. Ill teach you to bare your teeth at me cretin! Gonzolas shrieked.
In one quick swipe the whip fastened around Crazys neck was torn to shreds. He lunged at Gonzolas, before the tall man could reach inside his coat for another weapon. When the hand holding a third whip finally reappeared from the stylish coat it was met by a face full of teeth. The hand was ripped from the mans wrist in the first tug of Crazys jaw. Screams and growls are all that could be heard in the next few seconds onboard the Legacy.
After the scene unfolded, Crazy hung over his victim who was now an unidentifiable mess. Remembering his friend, Crazy ran to assist Nicholas who was still hung over the deck of the ship. Getting back on both their feet the two men looked at each other for a short moment. Nicholas couldnt believe what he had seen Crazy do to the pirate.
*I never thought you were capable of hurting anyone* Nicholas thought to himself. *A criminal? I thought there was no way this delicate soul could harm another human being, but I was wrong.* A set of tears began to form in Nicholas eyes. He reached out and grabbed his companion, in a strong and caring embrace. Im sorry, Nicholas said. *Next time, Ill be stronger and able to protect you*.
Crazy took the giant mans hug without complaint. Being let go, Crazy grabbed Nicholas by the arms and held the man in front of him.
Younot bad. Crazy said with a sense of certainty for the words he had chosen. He shook his head with much force as he repeated this phrase again. Nicholas didnt have the words to reply to such a gesture as this. He closed his eyes.
