Red’s attack was headed off by an over head blow by the giant of a man called Haunchy. Boards shattered under the powerful strike and pirates still close enough to the scene to feel the impact of the attack pulled back immediately. Red had evaded the attack and stood looking on at the silent Haunchy, who let out an almost inaudible grunting noise.
“You really shouldn’t move like that around Haunchy here…he has a knack for exterminating quick little pests.” Gloria said, patting her first mate almost like a pet.
“I’ve had enough of this,” Vash growled. “I’ll show both of you the extent of my vengeance.” Gloria waited as the blind man ran at her. Haunchy jumped in-between the two, but to no avail. Vash launched himself over the barbarian and came down at Gloria with his scythe pulled back. “Like a fly trying to save a dog,” Vash quipped.
His strike didn’t meet its target however. Gloria had actually met the weapon head on with a heavy kick from her small frame that parried it. Haunchy had turned around by this point and threw a punch at Vash’s struggling form. The blind man managed to duck below the blow, but was astonished by it’s destruction. A corner of the ship’s cabin had been knocked away completely just a foot above his head.
“Haunchy no!” reprimanded Gloria to the larger first mate. “You can have that one, but this blind fellow is mine.” A chilling smile swept over the captain’s face as she said this.
Red had already come at the hulking brute once again and actually stuck him with his sword. A hoarse cry was released from Haunchy’s throat, but he refused to yield. A spinning arm came at Red at an incredible pace. This first mate was swinging wildly now, leaving imprints wherever his fist would land. Red’s rapier gave him a decent reach, but another piercing blow would be hard to deliver to an individual with such an arm length as Haunchy who kept up his rampage. Grazing slashes are all Red could manage to deal while having to be agile as ever to continue dodging blow after blow from Haunchy.
*Even if that young one can keep dodging, it will only take one mistake for that brute to over take him* Vash thought to himself. *I have to hurry and eliminate this nuisance, before I can assist him.*
“You seem very self assured blind one,” Gloria began saying, “But to become a captain in this fleet, you have to pass a special test. One that no fool would do if they valued life. Right now you may be thinking I am an easy target. Continue thinking that if it puts your mind at ease, because in the next couple seconds your life will be over.” Gloria leapt over Vash and started a hand to hand assault with the man. She moved with absurd dexterity and at such a close range Vash was having difficulties moving his blade around his opponent. He was able to keep sensing her movements, being almost foot to foot, the only downside was the fluid motions she was using. Every attack seemed to roll around his defense and form into another. This woman wasn’t just a hand to hand specialist, she was a contortionist as well. The two combatants kept falling into deadlock, upon which Gloria would land an inhuman strike on the blind man.
*Her ability to read my moves shows her combative prowess, but I can’t do anything at this point if I can’t get away from her.* Vash thought to himself.
“Go Captain Rose!” hollered one of the pirate onlookers. This ignited a roar among the crew. Vash was taking every blow now and was beginning to lose his composure to the supple captain. One moment went by and Vash could sense it, his body was paralyzed.
*Oh no….what has she done?!* Vash thought.

Nicholas used his protected forearms to block the ranged assault of Gonzolas. Although the blows weren’t strong, each had the potential to rip flesh from bone. Their speed was amazing as well. The longer Nicholas guarded, the quicker his assailant doubled his strokes.
Sam still hadn’t moved from his set spot even when Captain Ozzy drew his long crescent shaped blade in both hands and charged forward. Strike after strike was laid steel on cold steel. A smile still sat on Sam’s face. Never had his blades been met by something of this magnitude. The crescent blade was nearly five feet in length and nearly two inches thick. It was quite the large weapon to be toted by any man, but here the Caption of the Neufian wielded it was little effort. Matched in stature and size, both blade wielders continued delivering blows and deflecting them as the weight of all weapons began to heavy on their forms. A low blow into the floor of the Legacy finally jostled Sam from his standing. A single foot was all he used to regain his balance, but as the bearded captain tore his weapon from the deck Sam was thrown off once again. This time by the deteriorating mass below him. Sam slid in the hole that was now torn in the Legacy’s floor.
Above him, Nicholas had finally procured one of Gonzolas’ whips in his own hand. He forced the long weapon forward only to watch the oddly dressed man let go of the tool and throw out his other whip. It flew out and caught onto the first and in one quick flick of the wrist a blow was deliver through both whips and directly on Nicholas’ chest. The metal fragments tore deeply into the giant man’s flesh and he winced from the pain only for a moment before putting his guard up once again. Swinging the lost weapon back to him Gonzolas reclaimed the whip.
“I told the captain I’d make this quick and I too wouldn’t want to prolong the Admiral’s wishes either. Your strength and size mean nothing to one as refined in technique as myself.” Gonzolas stated. Crazy had lurked behind Gonzolas at this time and wildly leapt at the backside of the man. “My aren’t you the eager one.” Gonzolas said while jumping away from the attack. A whip was flung out at Crazy’s throat, wrapping itself tightly around his small neck. “Don’t worry, you need not be tamed to be added to my collection. But let me see those splendid jaws.” Gonzolas tugged at the whip, causing Crazy to gasp out for air and claw at his throat violently. “Ah yes, great prizes indeed.”
“Stop it!” Nicholas cried out. He ran over and grabbed the whip in his hands only to find himself at the mercy of Gonzolas a moment later as the second whip found it’s way around his neck and jarred the giant man onto his back.
“You might just get added as well sir,” chimed Gonzolas, holding both his leashes taut.
