“The water has been fouled by the foulest of creatures,” Flashy quietly remarked.
“Oh my god,” Nicholas said watching the half sunk vessel floating barely above the sea. It had taken on much water, but still managed to stay afloat somehow.
Vash could smell the shredded corpses by now and hear the distant voices of strange men. Crazy and Red looked on in horror to the watery graveyard.
“There’s some still arrive!” announced Garrinski eyeing the small figures still moving about the wrecked ship. By this time the distance the Legacy had closed in on the siege taking place and had already put the three pirate ships on full alert. Two of them had changed course to meet the wandering ship head on. “Quickly, we need to get help to those people still alive,” Garrinski demanded, running to the nearest rowboat. “If they head off the ship at least a small boat should manage to get through.” Flashy jumped in the rowboat with Garrinski and cut the ties immediately. They fell into the water and began heading for the cries of the helpless passengers. The two ships that headed for the Legacy stopped short, creating a blockade to cut off the massive ship from sailing further. Garrinski and Flash barely managed to squeeze between them before hearing the snarls and howls of the pirate crews above.
“Turn now!” hollered Nicholas. He took charge of directing the ship as the newly formed ship-wall blocked their only path to Garrinski, Flashy, and the rest of the survivors. The Legacy barely made the maneuver and began sailing past the two pirate vessels before the first one started after them. Having an inside position was enough for the pirates to make up ground and catch the speedy Legacy. As the first pirate ship reared within throwing distance of the Legacy a band of pirates had managed to swing aboard.
Red drew his rapier and Vash darted towards the back of the ship where the unwanted passengers had boarded. Red flew through the crowd of men, piercing each in their chest and leaving no opening for an initial attack from the snarling pirates. Vash, took his advance at a slower pace, but this didn’t deter the horde of pirates to come at him with greater frenzy. His scythe dug into their bodies one after the next decorating the floor and rails all around him in splatters of crimson paint.
“Keep the ship going no matter what.” hollered Vash. The band of intruders who had made the first attempt to overthrow the ship had now been thwarted, but the enemy pirate ships remained on top of the Legacy's position. As the nearest one closed in another group of pirates readied themselves for boarding. “That’s it…I’ll handle these persistent fools.” Vash announced. With a giant leap Vash cleared the empty waters that separated the two ships and clung to the side of the enemy ship. He pulled himself up quickly to find Red assisting him with his task. “And what kind of a fool are you?” asked Vash.
“I won’t them reach Mr. Smith…look out!” Red shouted. He realized the folly of this statement a moment later when Vash sidestepped the incoming sword and knocked it’s wielder out with a single blow.
“Sorry kid, but I’m not here to baby-sit , if you get in the way you’re going to get us both killed. Now stay back,” hissed Vash. Red showed a grimace of disapproval at this remark and began unleashing his own assault at the pirates now surrounding the duo.
“Stop right there,” said a voice from atop the ships front deck. It was a woman’s voice, one with a superfluous amount of authority in its tone. “Step away from those men,” she commanded. She was in what looked like a blue sleeveless blouse, the length of which only reached the top of her stomach, tied in a knot. Her black wavy hair blew through the wind as she cascaded down the steps to the main floor of the ship. Red’s attention was not on this woman, but rather the hulking man who followed her. He had to be at nearly seven feet high and his body was heavily scarred and beat up.
“Judging by the idiots around us who finally shut up I’d say this woman would be this ship’s captain.” Vash said to Red. Before Red could question how Vash could tell what gender this person was she began to speak.
“That’s right my poor man. I’m Captain of the Huitada, Gloria Rose, and this would be my first mate, Haunchy.” the woman said eyeing the giant man next to her tiny petite frame. The man called ‘Haunchy’ cracked his knuckles as a sign of anticipation; the sound it made was almost identical to bones being snapped apart.
“Don’t worry k-….”Vash started to speak, but not before Red could lunge forward at the behemoth.

The second pirate ship was now right on the tail of the Legacy and with their destination being inside their current path there was no way to shake it. Boarding was inevitable at this point and the entire crew was readying themselves for the fight to come. Two lone pirates made the trip across vessels much to the astonishment of the Legacy crew.
“The Admiral would not be please if this chase continues much longer.” said an odd character with a giant blade resting behind him. He had an eye patch with a small skull and bones symbol on the center. His attire was an ugly brown pair of pants and a few silver bracelets on each of his wrists. A large red beard almost reached the top of his bare and very hairy chest. “Let’s do this quickly Gonzolas, and return to our duties aboard the Neufion,” said the bearded man.
The other man who stood before the crew aboard the Legacy was a tall gangly individual with a neatly trimmed mustache and clothing. His pants and hat were both very odd being bright green with red vertical stripes. His eyes winced at those who now stood before him. “Of course we’ll do this task with much haste, Captain Ozzy.” Gonzolas said to his superior. I was just thinking which of these cretins I’d prefer fashioning in to my collection. He took a short look at Sam and Nicholas before eyeing Crazy hunched over and glaring at the two pirates. “Ah, now there’s a good one. Marvelous.” Gonzolas sneered. He reached inside his long black coat and fashioned a pair of odd looking whips. The knots at the ends of each had been embroidered with something resembling metal razors. He snapped one and then the other to ensure they proved adequate.
Sam had already unsheathed his swords and was standing ready for the fearless looking pirates. Nicholas too, had come from the helm of the ship to stand between the odd couple and his friend.
“Don’t suppose you guys want to talk this out and call it a day,” chuckled Sam. The two pirates weren’t even moved by this performance and began a steady advance.
“We need to get to Flashy and Garrinski quickly. If these men stand in our way then I say we teach them some manners.” smiled Nicholas to his armed comrade. Crazy looked on with a great deal of displeasure. There was something frightening about these two men, but at the same time Crazy could help but feel this overprotective urge begin stirring up inside of him.
